Automatic Semantic Priming in Alzheimer's Disease ~ with Mary Otto

Primary Progressive Apraxia of Speech ~ with Mary Wille

Mary was awarded an Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates fellowship and learned how to conduct a systematic review. She examined diagnostic procedures in individuals with primary progressive apraxia of speech. She presented her work at the the Iowa-Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention and the Fall Undergraduate Research Festival at the University of Iowa in fall 2019.

Primary Progressive Apraxia of Speech ~ with Mary Wille & Abby Simon

After completing data entry with me for several semesters, Mary and Abby decided to complete a project with more independence. They learned how to locate and read the literature on a topic they were unfamiliar with - primary progressive apraxia of speech - and analyze clinical notes on a client in the University of Iowa clinic. They presented their case study work at the ASHA convention (where they were thrilled to meet Dr. Duffy), the Iowa-Speech-Language-Hearing Association convention, and the Fall Undergraduate Research Festival at the University of Iowa in fall 2019.
